Welcome to Hollow World

Hollow_world_graphic_finalHollow World is a novel I’m extremely proud of. While I’m known for my fantasy, that’s because only the fantasy works have made it “out there” to date. Hollow World should change that. The above painting, so brilliantly created by Marc Simonetti  (who also did the French covers for my Riyria Revelations books), depicts the world in which Ellis Rogers travels to. Climate change has produced violent storms making the surface too dangerous to inhabit, so mankind moved underground. But that’s not the only change Ellis finds when he jumps more than 2,000 years into the future. There’s a lot more beneath the surface of Hollow World as he’ll soon discover.

Hollow World is a cross genre piece that combines adventure, science fiction, fantasy, and even a murder mystery thrown in for good measure. First and foremost I’m a storyteller and I write books I want to read.  If you are looking for “hard science” you probably want to seek elsewhere. This book isn’t about all the cool new technology that exists in Hollow World, but rather how this technology affects people and society as a whole. It’s more “classic” science fiction, reminiscent of Asimov or H. G. Wells. At its heart, the novel challenges our understanding of what it means to be human, what it takes to love, and the cost of paradise.  If you’ve read and liked my Riyria books, then I predict you’ll like Hollow World, even if you’re not a science fiction aficionado.

Hollow World will be released in April 15 by myself (ebook), Tachyon Publishing (print), and Recorded Books (audio). Because I retain the ebook rights, you’ll be able to get free ebooks whenever you purchase a print or audio version. If you are intrigued, and want to know more.  I have an extended preview (first 4 chapters which is 66 pages) available.  See this page for details on how to get it for free.

I’m very excited about Hollow World and as always I hope you’ll enjoy.

  4. I just finished Hollow World, and I felt I had to say something about it.

This was a great read, and I enjoyed it immensly. I’d like to say I’m a sucker for lovestories, but I’m not. Still – this story got to me on some level I’d need Pax to decipher.

I want more of this, and I’d click the buy-button on the first day of release.

  5. This has to be one of the best SciFi books I have read in 2014. It would be good to follow Pax and Ellis Peters forward in their relationship and their adventures going forward. I couldn’t put it down and I don’t normally write reviews either! This has to be a future film….

  6. Just finished Hollow World on audio and loved it. How do you make such characters that feel so incredibly real?? Royce, Hadrian — I was pretty sure you couldn’t top them. But Pax! Ellis!

    Write another one please?? 🙂

    • You are very kind. And hopefully you’ll get a few new characters to love in The First Empire (Suri, Persphone, Raithe, Malcolm) I’m finishing up book #5 in a few months (if I stay on schedule). I do want to write another Hollow World Story. Just have a few projects a head of it, then I’ll see what I can do.
